genetics is a real thing: evidence in my son is a wiseass, like his dad

Well, it looks like the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. My son has taken on some of characteristics of his father: sarcasm and a willingness to 'cross-the-line' with comments. Take these into consideration...

On the night of my wife's first night on since delivering our 4th baby, she couldn't find anything nice to wear that fit her - it was only two weeks since the birth. My son, arriving in the bedroom could tell something was bothering her and asked. When my wife replied she couldn't find anything that fit, he asked, "Is that because you are fat?"

When told that was not nice, he decided to reword his question, "Is it because you take up more space now?.....(5 second pause)...because you are fat?"

April Fool's Not To Be

April Fool's day came and went this year without any real 'bang'. I'm usually the receiver, and giver of at least a few good jokes and few bad, lame jokes. I only had one joke played on me - which did get me and started the day well - that's where it ended unfortunately.

It's somewhat disappointing and depressing. I take great pride in not acting my age and April Fool's provides a great excuse to be juvenile. The depressing thing is I didn't have time to even think of some good jokes, let alone pull them off. My priorities have been incorrectly diverted!

I was disappointed that my kids, whom I thought I had trained well, didn't play any jokes this year. They are innocent pranks, but entertaining. I guess they have become too busy, as well.

not a win, but a good start

After watching Butler upset Syracuse, I changed the channel to ESPN2 and caught the inaugural game of the Philadelphia Union. Yes, I am a soccer fan. In fact, I went in on season tickets to the Union games this year.

The Union actually looked good in the second half. They actually played better down a man;
they didn't give up any goals during that long stretch. I still don't understand how a player can get two yellow cards - and get tossed out of the game - within 41 minutes! I don't know what he was doing or thinking. They were definitely fouls. Not sure the second one was worth a yellow, but you have to more careful. Can't imagine that player is psyched about their first ever MLS game

I'm looking forward to the new stadium in 'wonderful' Chester. Even more excited to take Kids #1 and #2 to the games.

What I don't get is why soccer (really Football) isn't more popular in the States. It's the most played youth sport in America for the last 15-20 years.

In the end, who cares. I'm looking forward to the World Cup and my extended weekend trip with the boys to watch the games. It won't be quite like '06 and being in Germany, but it should be great.

Can't my kid's all get on the same page at night

It would be nice for one or two nights a week that my kid's all 'go down' at night without a problem and 'stay down' for the night; until the good'ol alarm clock wakes them. Its seems all four can't go to bed peacefully or not wander through the bedroom door around 3am.

I realize I signed up for this, having four kids, but I don't think its wrong to ask they go to bed at bed time!

Instead, lately child #3 likes to bounce around our bedroom until 11pm ish and act like its 2pm in the afternoon and she just drank a latte grande from the local Starbucks.

I'm thinking long and hard about giving them vodka chocolate milks at dinner now.
